Overview
Public Theses was a performance and discussion series dedicated to bringing final thesis projects in dance, theatre, and music beyond the university context. The program transformed academic research into a public cultural event by combining stage presentations with conversations between graduating artists and audiences about the theoretical foundations of their work.

By opening the theatre to emerging artists at the beginning of their professional careers, the project sought to bridge the gap between academic artistic production and the independent performing arts scene, creating a space where research, performance, and public dialogue could meet.

Concept

Rather than presenting only finished performances, Public Theses invited audiences to engage with the artistic research behind each work. Every event consisted of two complementary moments:

• A public stage presentation of the thesis project.
• A conversation with the artist exploring the conceptual, methodological, and theoretical framework that informed the creation.

The cycle positioned artistic research as a form of public knowledge, making academic production accessible beyond the university and encouraging dialogue between artists, researchers, programmers, and audiences.
