Overview
La Danza en ESCENA was a program created within ESCENA – Espacios Escénicos Autónomos, a network of independent performing arts venues in Buenos Aires, with the aim of strengthening the presence, circulation and visibility of contemporary dance within the independent performing arts circuit.
The initiative connected independent theatres, dance artists and audiences through a collaborative model that encouraged the circulation of works, the creation of new relationships between venues and artists, and the expansion of opportunities for dance within spaces traditionally associated with theatre.
Developed as a collective project among ESCENA’s member venues, the program reflected the organization’s broader vision: independent cultural spaces as active platforms for artistic development, experimentation and exchange.
La Danza en ESCENA emerged from the understanding that independent venues are not only exhibition spaces, but also cultural ecosystems where artistic communities are created and sustained.
The project sought to strengthen the relationship between dance artists and independent theatres, creating new circuits of circulation and encouraging collaboration between creators, venues and audiences.
By integrating dance into the programming of autonomous performing arts spaces, the initiative contributed to making visible diverse artistic practices and supporting the development of contemporary movement within Buenos Aires’ cultural landscape.
As an active member of ESCENA, I contributed to the conception, design and production of La Danza en ESCENA, working collaboratively with the network’s member venues and artists.
