Compañía Tragicómica Tanguera

Co-founder · Co-Artistic Director
2011–2016

Overview
Compañía Tragicómica Tanguera is an independent performance collective that I co-founded and co-directed with José Garófalo to explore the intersections between tango, dance, theatre and site-specific performance. Working across urban interventions, installations and live performance, the company questioned traditional representations of tango by bringing it into dialogue with contemporary artistic practices and public space.

My Role

As co-founder, together with José Garófalo, I worked across artistic direction, choreography, performance and project development, contributing to both the creative vision and the production of the company’s work.

My work included:

  • Artistic direction
  • Choreography and movement research
  • Concept development
  • Site-specific creation
  • Production and project coordination

The company’s creative process was collaborative, combining movement, theatrical composition and spatial intervention as equal elements of each work.

Artistic Vision

The company explored tango as a contemporary performative language. Our projects questioned inherited images of tango through irony, theatricality and physical experimentation, creating performances that blurred the boundaries between dance, theatre, installation and urban intervention.

Working primarily in public spaces and unconventional venues, we invited audiences to encounter tango outside its traditional contexts, transforming everyday environments into spaces for collective artistic experience.
